The Villa match in Mityana two seasons ago cemented attacking midfielder Paul Mucureezi deep into the hearts of many KCCA FC faithful after his wonder goal. A play-station like demolition of six defenders – gave KCCA FC a vital 1-0 win over our rivals.
Mucureezi has since built on that monumental occasion to transform himself into a first team player with the ability to play through the middle and on the flanks – and is soon attracting the eye of Uganda Cranes coach Milutin Micho Srtedojevic.
With just four days to the tie with the team that acted as a springboard to his first rising career, Mucureezi who has started all the 11 league games the team has played this season, is still struggling to shake off a minor back injury.
“The doctors say it will be well soon and I would also want to play for my team against Villa and show them that we are a real force to reckon with. I hope to be back in the first team training very soon,” Mucureezi said on Friday morning.
The UCU graduate had formed a marvelous midfield combination with Isaac Kirabira and Muzamiru Mutyaba that has seen KCCA FC dominate most league teams in the middle park.
In case he fails to get match fitness in time, manager Mike Mutebi will be forced to turn to Nigeria work horse Sulaimon Akinyemi or returning Ivan Ntege to freeze the visitors’ midfield.
