Nunda’s Strike Sends KCCA FC To League Summit

Jackson Nunda on the half hour mark capitalized on a loose ball in the final third of the hosts’ half to send KCCA FC on top of the log with nine games played so far.

KCCA FC showed immediate intent from the onset, forward Allan Kyambadde with quick step overs beat Orombi and Agau and sent a goal bound rocket that was stopped by Akol on 16 minutes.

10 minutes later, Kyambadde’s clever run left the entire hosts’ backline flat footed but the speedy winger was controversially flagged offside with the keeper and goal at his mercy.

On the half hour mark, the ever-green Nunda picked up the ball off Orombi from 20 yards and slotted home to give KCCA FC the advantage.

With three minutes to play in the first stanza,Lawrence Bukenya was cautioned for a foul on Maroons’ Kikonyogo. Moments later, Kaddu beat his marker Orombi and was fouled yards away from the 18-yard box. The latter was cautioned by referee.

After recess, Fillbert Obenchan and Muwadda Mawejje were introduced to the tie for Kizza Mustafa and Julius Poloto respectively.

High flying Kaddu then missed doubling the lead twice in quick succession. From point blank range, the forward shot straight to custodian Akol on both occasions.

On the hour mark, Muwadda dribbled past Walusimbi and sent in a pin point cross that was headed inches wide by Nunda.

Three minutes later, Muwadda and Ssenjobe failed to connect skipper Awany’s magnificent freekick from 25 yards leaving the travelling fans in disbelief.

On 72 minutes, Mike Mutyaba was then introduced to the tie for goal scorer Jackson Nunda, three minutes later Awany’s fierce shot was acrobatically parried away by Akol.

On the other end, Charles Lukwago produced two match winning saves to deny Walusimbi and Batte on 79 and 83 minutes.

0-1 the final score. Nunda’s goal sending KCCA FC on top of the log.
