Okello praises manager, teammates for memorable debut

Born on 4th July, 2000 in Lira Town teenage prodigy Allan Okello made a huge statement on his senior debut as KCCA FC demolished Onduparaka with a 7-0 win at the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo on Saturday.

At just the age of 16, the attacking midfielder who can also play as a false number nine should have had many thinking the teenager would fail to shrug off the pressure given the crowds that thronged the stadium that day

However, Okello put up a brilliant, commanding and assured performance scoring a hat trick and assisting on one occasion leaving his foot prints all over the lugogo turf.

Okello believes the performance he put up was down to head coach manager Mike Mutebi who entrusted him and handed him his debut.

I’m happy for the performance I had against Onduparaka but most importantly, the team was able to get three points

Okello told www.kccafc.co.ug before throwing more thanks towards the manager who had kept the lad on the bench in both 2017 Total CAF Champions League ties against CD Primeiro de Agosto and the league tie against BUL.

I want to thank the coach for giving me the opportunity to play. It is a dream come true for me because I have always dreamt playing for KCCA football club. The coach has always believed in me and always encouraged me to work harder which has helped me to grow in confidence

The crafty midfielder cum forward with a nimble left foot also heaped praise on the teammates indicating they have been hospitable to him.

“I have had overwhelming support from the teammates despite being a new player on the senior team. They have all been hospitable to me and that has helped me settle in easily.

Okello who was the most valuable player during last season’s Fufa U17 Juniors league is one of the six players that KCCA FC incorporated into the senior team from the junior side at the start of the second round of the league.
