Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) suffered a blow in a bid to advance to the quarterfinals after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Rivers United.

A slow start saw KCCA FC concede two early goals in the Total CAF Confederation Cup game played on Tuesday at Gowon Yakub stadium in Port Harcourt amidst a heavy downpour.

Skipper Dennis Oola Okot still embeds the belief that KCCA FC are still in the right shape and mentality to qualify through group A and make the quarterfinals.

We came to Nigeria with the intention of picking a descent result but that did not happen. This is not the end, we still have two games and those can change our fortunes

Okot told www.kccafc.co.ug before indicating the group is wide open for everyone to take.

I believe every team still has a chance now that we all have six points each. So the final two games will be very crucial and as KCCA FC, we are looking forward to those games

Okot confesses the two goals were down to mistakes but he is confident that will be rectified ahead of the final two games against FUS Rabat and Club Africain.

We committed a few mistakes at the start and Rivers United captilised on that to take an early lead. But when we cooled off the pressure, we played better. We shall go back home and try to rectify the mistakes before the other two games

Asked about the state of the pitch which was waterlogged, Okot said that would not be an excuse for the loss because that happens everywhere.

We cannot say the heavy downpour and the state of the pitch cost us. It rains everywhere, even in Uganda so we shall not dwell on that as an excuse for the loss.

With two games to play, group A is wide open for any team with all clubs, Club Africain, FUS Rabat, Rivers United and KCCA FC level on six points.

KCCA FC next game will be at home(Phillip Omondi stadium) against FUS Rabat on 1st July before playing Club Africain away in Tunisia.
