Four-time Uganda Premier League top scorer Robert Ssentongo is a player who rises up on big occasions – like the grand cross-city derby with SC Villa KCCA FC is preparing for.
But ever since he scored in the sweet win over Express last month at Lugogo, the three-goal hero has gone silent – and he knows it is not right for a player of his caliber and experience.
“First of all I want to get more playing time to be able to score more goals because even superstars like Christiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid and Portugal) and Lionel Messi (Barcelona and Argentina) need more minutes on the pitch to net goals,” said Ssentongo.
Ssentongo, a former Villa player, has been coming off the bench in the last three league matches as manager Mike Mutebi prefers the striking duo of Derrick Nsibambi and Geoffrey Sserunkuuma.
“I hope and pray that mys open up again against Villa on Tuesday so that I can get back in the starting team again,” said the striker who was top scorer with 18 league goals last season.

“I have been through dry spells before but I know when to pop up again and open the floodgates again. I’m targeting the Villa game to stop that bad run,” assured Ssentongo.
KCCA FC fans and management have a lot of hope in Ssentongo’s services if the club is to retain the league crown and perform well in the pending CAF Champions League tourney.
