The football governing body, FUFA through the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary panel has issued a warning against KCCA FC for the chaos caused by its fans.
On 31st January 2020 at Arena of Visions in the frame of the Startimes Uganda Premier League, KCCA FC fans started up chaos in an attempt to enter the stadium only to be contained by Police.
Legal Framework
Article 30 (8) of the FUFA Competitions Rules establishes that “Clubs in competitions are responsible for order and security both inside and outside the stadium before, during and after matches”
Findings
There was provocation from the URA FC head coach when he celebrated in front of the fans in the away team’s section.
KCCA FC through its fans committee took action against the fans who were involved in the incident.
Decision
The Competitions Disciplinary panel in considering that case took into account KCCA FC’s previous record and the situation leading up to the incident.
Accordingly, the Competitions Disciplinary Panel hereby WARNS KCCA FC against future incidents and is encouraged to prevail over its fans.
Possible future Repercussions KCCA FC could face
The club could lose points and goals
The club could pay a fine if found guilty
The club could pay both fines and lose goals and points
The CEO, Anisha Muhoozi who represented the club at the disciplinary hearing had this to say;
I urge our fans to stay away from hooliganism that does not promote the spirit of FAIR PLAY. The beauty is that the Fans Leaders through the executive committee have taken action against the fans who were involved in the incident and hopefully this does not occur again.
