
Kampala Capital City Authority Football Club (KCCA FC) edged closer to reaching 16th FUFA Uganda Cup final after earning a comprehensive victory against Express on Friday evening.
KCCA FC won the first leg of the semifinal 3-2 at Phillip Omondi stadium on Friday and team manager Mike Hillary Mutebi was delighted with the performance.
“I’m really delighted that we put up a good performance. The players showed commitment throughout the game and it was important that we got the result,” the manager told www.kccafc.co.ug after the game.
He additionally noted that it was important to go into the return leg with an advantage and believes the victory on Friday gives the team motivation.
“The victory means we go into the return leg on a good note. I believe we have the advantage going into the return leg next week.”
However, Mutebi asserts the team will not change identity in the return leg trying to defend the score.
“We can not mortgage our identity because we want to go to the finals. We shall stick to our style of play because it has yielded us results,” he stated.
Geoffrey Serunkuuma scored a brace while Tom Masiko also got onto the score sheet to help KCCA FC win the first leg 3-2.
The two sides meet for the return leg next week on Tuesday at Wankulukuku and winner on aggregate will advance to the final slated for 10th June at the Betway Greenlight stadium in Arua district.
