The painful 2-1 loss to The Saints FC on Tuesday halted our perfect run on six games without a defeat but it didn’t hinder manager Mike Mutebi’s plans to seal the league title.
The manager had warned of the danger that comes with a side desperate to stay afloat in the league like The Saints and is not wholly surprised by the result.
“They punished us for the mistakes we did and got the victory. This is still a learning team and I think we shall have improved by the time we face Simba next week,” Mutebi revealed.
His other concern was the way the team defended when under attack.
“They failed to clear the lines fast and this led to the penalty. We have been picking points from hard games like against Maroons, JMC and Bright Stars and I must admit we were a bit unlike this time. We have to win the next game before we take on Vipers in what is probably the league decider,” Mutebi said.
The saints FC, missing the five KCCA on loan players, scored through Alex Benzema Kitatta and Karolo Kiweewa whereas Nigerian Sulaimon Akinyemi scored our consolation. The Saints have so far managed to perform well against the big teams having drawn 0-0 with Villa, walloped Express FC 3-0 and beat URA FC 1-0 at Lugazi before drawing 1-1 at Namboole. We remain in control of the league table with a nine points difference on second placed Vipers who visit JMC on Friday.
