Yiga, Emojong, and Mayanja promoted from the Soccer Academy to The senior team

Three youngsters have been promoted from the KCCA FC Soccer Academy to the Senior Team ahead of the 2023 -2024 season and have all been handed five year contracts.

The three are Alex Yiga, Abubakar Mayanja and Anthony Emojong.

Alex Yiga

Yiga is an attacking midfielder who joined the KCCA FC Soccer Academy in 2022/23 season. Midway through the season, in January 2023, he got an invitation for football assessment programs in Scotland and England.

Yiga is a sublime controller of the ball, an exceptional ball dribbler at a blistering pace, a team player with trickery, visionary, and shoots perfectly with either foot.

He thrives in small spaces, orchestrating attacks from central midfield and the flanks, frequently preferring the wall pass before the final execution towards the goal.

Yiga was also part of the KCCA FC U20 side that won the Cambiasso International Tournament in Daresalam, Tanzania, July 2022.

Yiga also won bronze at the 2022 CECAFA U-17 football tournament with the Uganda Cubs (national U-17 team) in Ethiopia, scoring crucial goals and assisting in others.

Abubakar Mayanja.

Abubakar Mayanja

Commonly known as Abu, he joined KCCA FC Soccer Academy in 2022 ahead of the Cambiasso International Tournament in Daresalam, Tanzania.

During that tournament, he scored two goals in the opening game against Tanzania’s Ruvu Shooting FC U20 and a late winning goal in the final against Azam FC U20 at Chamazi Stadium.

Mayanja would later feature for the KCCA FC U17 side and also had training stints with the KCCA FC senior side during the 2022/23 season.

The young man has a poacher’s instinct in front of the goal and he is one that loves getting involved in play.

The forward has been promoted to the senior side and will be licensed ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Anthony Emojong

Anthony Emojong

The talented goalkeeper joined KCCA FC soccer academy in 2016.

In 2023, he was loaned to FUFA Big League side, Lugazi FC and he helped them finish 5th at the end of the season. He featured in 16 games and kept 7 clean sheets and conceded 5 goals. He helped Lugazi FC pick 8 win and 6 draws during his stay at the club.

Emojong is a ball-playing goalkeeper with top reflexes and command of the goal area and will be licensed for the 2023/24 season and has been handed a five years contract until 2028.
